Ship and Trades

Common description

This city hotel in Chatham is by an ample waterfront seating area overlooking the pleasure boats in the marina and across the River Medway to Upnor Castle. The hotel/pub is a short stroll from Dickens World, Chatham Historic Dockyard and Dockside Factory Outlet shopping centre, and just a mile from Rochester, with its Norman castle and cathedral.||This city hotel is in a building dating back to 1600 and was renovated in 2011. From 1875, the basic structure has been a frame of steel that once stored offices of shipyards and engineering shops. The building's framework has been totally transformed into an ultramodern bar, the restaurant and the hotel, overlooking the yachts in the former Royal Naval Shipyard. The interior has been transformed into an elegant, contemporary space, with chimneys, a comfortable lounge area and two ‘snugs' for more intimate meetings. Guests are welcomed in the lobby, which offers lift access to the upper floors. Guests can enjoy a drink at the café and bar, and dine in the restaurant. Wireless Internet access is available and there is a car park for those arriving by car.||The modern, clean and fresh bedrooms are housed inside an industrial warehouse that used to be part of the main dockyard of the British fleet. All rooms are en suite and feature a shower and hairdryer, as well as a direct dial telephone, a TV, a radio, Internet access and tea and coffee making facilities.||The hotel offers bar meals and a very interesting restaurant upstairs for à la carte lunch and dinner.||Right on the River Medway just outside Chatham, head for Chatham's Historic Dockyard.
